Flask is a micro framework for Python.
Flask is an important Microframework in the industry and is widely used across many use cases.
We use Flask on a vast array of python projects where HTTP invocation is necessary or simple user interaction is required.
Serverless workloads often require that your Python project is wrapped up in a framework where the underlying Python app is called via HTTP/S. This would be things like scheduled API interactions, web page scraping, or other tasks where the invocation of the app itself is called up using a browser or an HTTP GET request. What makes Flask great for this task is that it’s trivial to wrap an existing Python script up with Flask. The framework is very small and installs easily.
When onboarding new developers with ActionSpec, we can quickly train new devs on Flask. Additionally, when we hand over projects to clients, it is easier for the client’s internal technical headcount to understand a flask project than something written in Django, which by contrast, is a very robust Python framework.
